Description
Mycoplasma culture is a popular and well-established method of detecting mastitis-causing mycoplasma in dairy cattle. However, a significant problem is false positive results caused by Acholeplasma, a non-pathogenic look-alike organism. The PCR-003B kit will determine if colonies tested are Mycoplasma or Acholeplasma, allowing confident herd management. Furthermore, the two most common species Myco. bovis and bovigenitalium are identified. Not all mycoplasma species are equally pathogenic or demand the same management strategies, and this information may be useful in determining the urgency of intervention strategies.
The PCR-003B kit is designed to be used alongside the EXT-002 Colony Extraction Kit.
